I spent some time tonight making a few changes here and there on my portfolio site. There’s still a lot more I’d like to do, but not everything has been fleshed out in my head yet. One of my favourite things about this site is that it is a work in progress. I want to take a minute just to share a few of the tweaks that I’ve made:
- Reconfigured footer. One of the big things I did with this update was to reconfigure the footer. Previously, the footer only housed the latest blog posts and my flickr feed. I have been using Twitter extensively for the last few months, and wanted to include it on this site. I’ve included my Twitter feed and layed out the footer in a 3 column display, using the flickr feed as a visual divider between the two text feeds.

- Font size polishing. As most of you know, I use Georgia as the main font on my website, with Times New Roman as the back-up font. I have tried to use font size, weight, and colour to differentiate between different parts of the content. In a few of these areas, I have made slight changes to the font sizes, including in the footer and the comments section. Hopefully these changes will make browsing the site much more enjoyable and effective.
- New “Read The Rest Of This Post” Links. A very small detail, but probably my favourite change I’ve made so far. I have been using the “more” function in Wordpress for several of the longer posts on the blog, so as to save some of the clutter. However, I was rather unimpressed with the normal link that is utilized for the function. So, I’ve styled it and included it as part of the dividing line that divides each post. I think it’s a pretty unique look, and makes the “more” function much more attractive to use.

Those are just a few of the small changes I’ve made. If anyone has other suggestions for areas I could take a further look at, please let me know!
